Do you prefer new construction when purchasing a home? If so, you’re in good company. According to a recent Harris Poll, 41 percent of Americans prefer new construction.

Buyers of new homes like modern features; the ability to customize their home; and knowing they’ll have less expense for home maintenance and repairs. Of course, some simply like the idea of being the first to live in a “new” home.

According to the National Association of Realtors®, brand-new homes tend to be larger than existing homes in the marketplace, but often cost less per square foot.
